TANK CLEANING

Tank Cleaning

When should I get my tank cleaned?
The main indicator for cleaning a tank is dirty water.
The main symptom is needing to change filters in the Potable Package every couple of weeks to less than a month.

Dirty stored water quality is a result of a poor pre-filtration sub-system. If you do not have a robust pre-filtration system in place or have a poor one, it can only take 1-2 years before needing a tank cleaning due to debris etc.

A robust pre-filtration system will provide debris-free water for 5-10 years before you may require a tank cleaning.
A Rainwater Harvesting System (RWHS) that has a robust Pre-filtration system the filters are changed 4-6 months.

How long does it take to clean a water tank?

Depending on the size of the tank, it can take a few hours to 1 whole day.

Tank Cleaning Process:
Tank will be drained to about 1 foot of water
Walls are scrubbed & rinsed
All debris & water evacuated
Floor is scrubbed & rinsed

What if my pre-filtration system needs an upgrade?
Before cleaning the tank, we highly recommend upgrading the prefiltration system to ensure the rainwater is clean prior to storage. In order to prolong the time before requiring another tank cleaning.
